Shepard’s Hook
This hasn’t been a great year for wild flowers in the Valley so far this year. This is called a Shepard’s Hook and is usually fairly prevalent in the nearby foothills. Hope to take a little excursion soon to see if even they are showing up.
Glass Ball
Due to the corona virus our activities are restricted. We try to stay at home as much as possible. So I decided to look for some ideas to photograph at home. I watched some Youtube videos to find some inspiration and finally I just started to pick up “stuff” out of my photography accessory box. The glass ball got my attention. I photographed it on a reflective surface and against a black background. I used a small flashlight as my light source having the camera secured. Moving the flashlight around the ball I snapped several exposures. In post production I used the Solarization filter filter inside Nik Color Efex 4 to create this image. Enjoy and get creative!

Z is for Zebra
Recently, my family and I took a trip to the San Diego zoo, and I was able to capture some cool shots of all the different animals. This was one of my favorite images from that day and I thought the zebra’s stripes were really striking, especially in black and white. Enjoy!
Old Barn
White Crowned Sparrow
Due to a medical condition I have not been able to do much photography for the last few months. Lately I have done some around my house. I have about a 35′ fence covered in vines. It is the home of many sparrows which seem to be a very social bird. They will visit my bird-feeders in numbers of 10 or more at a time and all will fly away in a great rush. I caught this one in the morning light, through my bedroom window, sitting in a tree getting ready to visit the feeder.
Child’s Play
While I was cleaning up a mess in the kitchen I came to the end of a roll of paper towels. Suddenly I had the idea to fill the empty paper roll with silver foil, holding it in front of my camera lens. I tried all kinds of different camera settings photographing blossoms in my neighborhood. Be inspired and start photographing!
