Mountain Range

I recently took a trip to the mountains and was able to capture this image before the sun set. Enjoy!

Star Tulip

Yesterday my good friends and I went on a photo shoot to some higher elevations of the western Sierra National Forest. The soul purpose of this photoshoot was to photograph wildflowers. Unfortunately we were a bit early. There were a few, but most of those were at the lower elevations of 6000-7000 ft. Above that the selection dropped way down to just a couple. But as always, what was there was beautiful. The Star Tulip is one of the first flowers to appear at the upper elevations. It is very small and close to the ground, but has an almost ethereal, translucent appearance. A very pretty little flower. Stay healthy!

Red Admiral

Last year I bought a ‘butterfly bush’. It was a small plant and didn’t grow very much. This year it’s on steroid and has more than doubled in size in just a couple of months to about 8′ tall. It just started blooming the other day and I was able to catch one of the first visitors besides the bumble and honey bees.

Letztes Jahr habe ich einen Schmetterlingsstrauch gekauft. Es war eine kleine Pflanze und wuchs nicht sehr viel. Dieses Jahr ist es auf Steroid und hat sich in nur ein paar Monaten mehr als verdoppelt und ist ungefähr 8 Fuß groß. Neulich fing es gerade an zu blühen und ich konnte neben den Hummeln und Honigbienen einen der ersten Besucher fangen.

Donnells Reservoir

Sonora Pass is the second highest pass that crosses the Sierra Nevada mountains in central California. There are beautiful sceneries along the road which provide plenty of photo opportunities. I stopped at the Donnells vista point. I used a 14mm super wide angle lens to create this image. Enjoy!

Honigsammlerin

Die kleine Biene ist im Anflug auf eine Blüte. Der vorstehende Fühler wirkt fast wie ein Tankrüssel kurz vor dem Andocken im Blütenkelch.
The little bee is approaching a blossom. The protruding feeler acts almost like a tank trunk shortly before docking in the calyx.

Wachhund

Als ich kürzlich über Land fuhr, entdeckte ich in einem Dorf einen alten Gutshof. Die Toreinfahrt wird von zwei Hunden bewacht. Der Zahn der Zeit hat allerdings schon sehr an ihnen genagt.
When I recently drove across country, I discovered an old manor house in a village. The gate is guarded by two dogs. But the ravages of time have already gnawed at them.
