Still There

So far, the huge Creek fire has spared our beloved Beasore area. The historical landmark Jone’s Store is still intact thanks to the intense efforts of our valiant fire crews They are fighting this fire on the ground by hand. The smoke conditions have kept all air support grounded. Sadly, many other areas were less fortunate and ravaged by the fire, and hundreds of homes were lost. We did have some light rain which helped slow the fire down. Stay safe out there, and pray for the continued safety of those fighting the fires

Smoke

I recently went to Northern California both for work and pleasure. While traveling north I encountered heavy smoke almost the whole way. This is looking west just south of Redding. Though it looked like as I headed west toward Eureka and the coast I might get away from some of the smoke it didn’t happen. When I got to Eureka the smoke was the heaviest I’ve ever seen.

Improvisation

Nachdem Anke und ich ja in unseren letzten Bildern schon die Schirmdekoration gezeigt hatten, wollte ich heute mal ein Bild von Künstler, Band und Publikum zeigen. Improvisation habe ich das Bild genannt, weil die Veranstalter gezeigt haben, dass man auch in Corona Zeiten ein Konzert mit Publikum veranstalten kann. Wenn es drinnen nicht geht, dann eben draußen im Park auf Gartenstühlen und Gartentischen. Und gegen die Kühle der Nacht hatten sich die meisten ihre Kuscheldecke mitgebracht.

Turmwächter

Im Braunschweiger Bürgerpark steht dieser denkmalgeschützte Wasserturm. Seit 2014 steht die vier Meter hohe Skulptur “Der Türmer” auf dem Turm und wacht über die Stadt. Turm und Maschinenhalle des ehemaligen Wasserwerks sind heute Bestandteile eines modernen Hotelkomplexes.
This listed water tower is located in Braunschweig’s Bürgerpark. Since 2014, the four-meter-high sculpture “Der Türmer” (The Towerman) has been standing on the tower and watching over the city. The tower and machine hall of the former waterworks are now part of a modern hotel complex.

The Beauty that is the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range

The Sierra Nevada is full of it’s own unique beauty. Miles and miles of beautiful scenery that doesn’t go away until you drop down out of these mountains. Beasore is an area that is a particular favorite of mine because of it’s beauty, and it’s wonderful wildflowers and wildlife. Unfortunately it’s existence is being threatened by wildfires. Please pray that they can gain total control of these fires and put them out. Not just here, but all over the west coast. And always exercise caution and safety when out in these areas. Stay healthy.
