Art in lost places

One of my favorite photo topics is industrial archeology. Mostly it is strictly forbidden to go in and, worse, they have boarded up the windows so there is no light to take photos. And then there are the few places where they have recognized the aesthetic value of these places and use them for art exhibitions. One is the so called “electriciteitsfabriek” in The Hague. The turbine hall of a power station has been converted to an exhibition hall for modern art.

The children’s buggy is not part of the art work
The present exhibition by different artists refers to, surprise, the pandemic
In this installation plastic garbage rains down from a rotating barrel at the ceiling
Sometimes the barrel has to be refilled

Past Glories – Golden Glasses and Jean Harlow

Jean Harlow (1911 – 1937) was a famous actress and played in numerous films in her 10 years long career. In her time, she created a sensation with the now rather outdated line: “Would you be shocked if I put on something more comfortable? ” in Hell’s Angeles (1930), a film directed and produced by Howard Hughes. No, it was not a movie about motorcycling roughnecks, rather about two bombing pilots fighting about … a woman, Jean Harlow.

Sunflower in the Fall – Cell Phone Image

Currently I am trying to earn to photograph properly with my cell phone. My first obstacle is that my phone takes images in a 4:3 format. I actually prefer the 3:2 of my camera. Of course I also miss all the manual control but I am adjusting. On this images I added a circular polarizer to my cell phone camera to bring out the clouds real strong. In post I added an art filter. Enjoy!

A short story from Wilhelmsburg, Hamburg, in 4 chapters.

Chapter 01: To prevent cars from parking in the yard of the fire department, a line was painted zig-zag on the pavement.
Chapter 02: “Hey chief, we need to fix the sewer pipe!” – “Then dig a hole and fix it!”
Chapter 03: “Hey Chief, we can’t remember how the pavers were laid!” – “Then just put them down somehow, no one will notice that they were lying differently!”
Chapter 04: “Hey boss, we’re done. It turned out great!”

Abendlicht

A few days ago the evening sun shone on the oak tree in front of our house. The great thing was that it was also reflected in my kitchen window. I liked the sight so much that I spontaneously grabbed the camera to capture the image.

Lange Zeit konnten Kunsthandwerker ihre Ware nicht auf Märkten anbieten. Nun geht es endlich wieder! An diesem Stand wurden jede Menge Socken angeboten, die in den letzten Monaten gestrickt wurden.

For a long time, artisans could not offer their wares at markets. Now it finally goes again! This stand offered a lot of socks knitted in recent months.
