Aguacero

is the word for downpour in Spanish, when I remember right. These photos were taken during a downpour in the Cuban town of Cardenas. In 1992, a time of utmost scarcity on the island, horse carriages were a major means of transport. Petrol was hard to come by, so the famous old, petrol guzzling American cars were rare. For the real thing, I recommend Steve McCurry’s book “Monsoon”, there are some photos on his website: https://stevemccurry.com/galleries/monsoon-0

There is a famous picture of Steve McCurry in action for the Monsoon series. Together with some other interesting information it can be found here…

Merced Wildlife Refuge

To say there were a few Snow and Ross geese at the Refuge might be an understatement since this is just a small portion of what was flying around. Luckily they came and landed in front of Friedhelm and I. In fact pretty darn close. We were verwwy verwwy quiet.

Verdammt knapp. Wir waren sehr ruhig.

Luckily mom and pop Pintail were there as well

Zum Glück waren Mama und Papa Pintail auch da
