Maastunnel

Anke’s picture f the Elbe tunnel in Hamburg reminded me that there is a similar facility in Rotterdam under the Maas and in Antwerp under the Schelde. Both were built around a hundred years ago and many of the original features are preserved. This is the one in Rotterdam. Presently, the old wooden elevators undergo a renovation. There are separate floors for cyclists and pedestrians

The building with the green cupola in the back is the north entrance

There are lifts, but most cyclists use the old moving stairs

Two Fires in one Week

It’s dry, hot, global warming is moving fast, politicians are on vacations, and it’s burning ….

On Monday we had the Aqua Fria Fire going that with a lot of air power was extinguished within a day.

Today, the so called Oak Fire started to the East in Midpines, it grew very quickly and many people had to leave their homes. Even in the middle of the night, I can see the fire glow over the hill. What will tomorrow bring?

Sonnentaler

Viel Spass beim ausprobieren.

Galantias open their flowers only when the sun shines. In the evening, or in bad weather, they remain closed. By the way, if you like this picture style, you can easily imitate it with most modern cameras. For Sony cameras, use the Spot focus mode and the Highlights metering mode. Have fun trying it out.
