Magical Forest Urchin

Happy New Year! Our challenge this month is globes, marbles or balls. My choice was lens ball which is a crystal globe that comes in different sizes. This is my first attempt with these and lets just say that proficiency level has not yet been achieved. This little forest urchin magically appeared one day with the help of a very dear friend and it took a liking to the ball. May your new year be filled with warmth, love, good health, happiness and maybe a little magic .

Sharing

My close friend and photo partner and I took a long overdue trip to Yosemite this past week and although the lighting was a bit challenging, the scenery was as beautiful as ever. The waterfall in the background is Yosemite Falls. I included Val in this shot(she’s standing on the beach near the water under the falls} to bring some perspective not only to the size but the majesty of the area. Have a wonderful day and stay healthy.

Always Beautiful

Depending on several different factors, the landscape in the park can change daily. Water is a big factor along with weather, seasons, park landscape management and people. The Merced River moves an incredible amount of natural debris along it’s path through the park such as fallen trees, logs, rocks and boulders. A scene that was pristine the day before might have a huge log in the middle of it the next day. And that can make a big difference in a picture. Enjoy the beautiful weather and stay healthy.

Yosemite Ducks

These girls were up in Yosemite on the Merced River. The Common Merganser like most ducks in the park is not really a common sight. You are more likely to see a Mallard or a Canadian goose and not many of those. Val and I had the opportunity to see a mom Merganser and her babies up by Mirror Lake, all riding on her back . Those opportunities are rare and I feel fortunate to be part of the experiences. Have a wonderful day and stay healthy.
