This weeks challenge is to pick one image and create each day a new image out of the one image you have chosen. You can edit the image any way you like, just create a new one out of your original.
I photographed this little stream yesterday at Kings Canyon National Park, CA. Here is my first image. I changed it from a landscape into a portrait and I increased colors and sharpness.
Did my image improve? I think so. Enjoy and happy editing!
Sometimes little things make a huge difference. In this image the leaf on the lower left side draws a lot of attention. It sits right on the edge of the old shack which serves as two major leading lines.

My partner David ignited in me the desire to photograph lines. Ever since we talked about lines I look for them. In this image the powerlines drew my attention. The blue yellow contrast adds even more interest to this image.

While I was walking down the alley I discovered some wild growing grain. I used my 70-200 lens with a 12mm extension tube to get this image.

The light in between the rain showers was just great. I love the contrast between the blue-gay sky and the brown-reddish houses and fences. Of course the power lines are an added bonus.

We had a lot of rain during the week-end. I drove to downtown Merced and photographed along this alley in between showers. I was hoping to catch a few reflections in the rain puddles.

While I was photographing downtown stores I noticed this woman marching towards me. I decided to include her in my image. The camera was mounted on a tripod and I used a wireless trigger to get this shot. Thinking about your hometown means that at a certain point you have to include some people into your composition to demonstrate that you are not living in a ghost town.

This second hand bookstore is located in the heart of downtown Merced. It has an “old time charm” and is definitely worth visiting.

This little mom and pop store is located at the corner of 23rd and K street. It is a jewel of a store, giving me the feeling of country in the midst of a city.

Here is a good example how life has changed in our city. Around the shopping malls there used to be public phones everywhere. Today you only see the remnants. The cell phone made them obsolete. The newspaper stands are still here because people like to have the “real thing” in their hands.
