Periodically our group is challenged to present a certain type of format and this week was people pictures and when I was informed of this, this particular shot came immediately to mind. I just returned from my annual trip to the Eastern Sierra Nevada. Although the colors were a bit of a challenge this year, one could find patches of color. and South Lake provided it’s usual beauty. Enjoy your day!
Bishop Creek is one of my favorite places to go during the fall color season in the eastern sierra. It is one of the first areas to change color in the areas I go to. This particular morning the temps were about 20 degrees and the elevation was about 9000 ft. It was worth every minute. Enjoy your day.
My absolute favorite time of the year is fast approaching. I truly love the fall colors and I visit my favorite places in the eastern sierra high country where I consider it heaven. And that’s just the beginning! I continue to follow the fall colors as they travel through the different elevations. It keeps me very busy. Enjoy your weekend.
This is called the Flannel Plant. The leaves are covered in a downy-like texture, while the bloom has thick, waxy petals. It is a bush, and one of the last to bloom at the mid elevations of 3000 to 4000 ft. I thought I would give summer one last boost. Enjoy your day.

The volume of butterflies in the higher elevations of the Sierra-Nevada is mind-boggling. Just the Blues alone has 13 different categories and then divide that down to numerous sub-species and all of them look so similar that it is difficult to tell them apart. This is, I believe, the Blues sub species Buckwheat, Green-Blue variety. Enjoy your day!
This is, I believe a common White Skipper. Skippers are very small butterflies, with large round eyes, and their wings are usually folded above their back hen resting. There are quite a few varieties and I have seen them at all elevations. Enjoy your day!
This category of butterflies is called Blues, with several subspecies that can become a challenge when trying to identify one because of their similarities. They are very small but beautiful. In the field where I was shooting, I saw a few different different types. This is I believe, a Silvery Blue female. The males are strikingly blue and there was one close by that I was able to get pictures of. This was shot at about 7500 ft. Enjoy your day
