High Sierra Nevada in May

Spring in the High Sierra Nevada means melting snow and the beginning of plant growth. I photographed this small creek at about 9000 feet. Normally it is a very small creek but currently the water is just gushing down. The bushes in the front are just beginning to grow new leaves and the mountains in the background are still partially snow covered.

Horsetail Fall

Each year in February the sun illuminates the Horsetail Fall in Yosemite National Park creating the impression of a “Fire Fall”. Of course many photographers are trying to capture the moment since Galen Rowell did so in 1973.
Since the clouds moved in in the afternoon I was just about ready to give up and drive home when suddenly the sun rays broke through the clouds. I was very happy capturing this image!
