Shadow 18

This is a commercial grade stove and I loved the row of shadows.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Shadows 17

I discovered these shadows created by a balcony in downtown Merced, CA.

Enjoy and keep on looking and photographing!

Shadows 16

Luckily the sun is shining again and I went out to photograph “shadows” after lunch. In this image there is the shadow of a natural object (tree) and of an man made object (street lamp) combined.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Shadows 15

We are going into the second week to create shadows.

This image some reminds me of a dental x-ray. I created it using a plastic bottle that I filled with water. Then I used a barn-door strobe to shoot through the bottle. The structure on the bottle created this shadow.

Keep on photographing and try out new (and sometimes weird) ideas!

Shadows 14

These shadows were created by chairs that were put together.

Enjoy and keep on looking and creating!

Shadows 13

We had very little sunshine the last few days so had to come up with some other ideas to get some shadow images. This morning I saw this Dandelion in my front yard. I cut it and photographed it inside using a barn door strobe light. In post processing I used Nik Silver Efix pro and Topaz clean to create several layers in Photoshop which I manually combined.

Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Shadows 11

This is the shadow of a bicycle stand. This is a very simple photograph and still there is something about it!

Enjoy and keep on looking and creating!

Last night I went downtown Merced, CA to look for some interesting shadows. I found these at the old courthouse which is most likely the most photographed building in the county.

Enjoy and keep on discovering and photographing!

Shadows 10

For the next two weeks I challenge you to photograph shadows again. I did this exercise once before but I think it is always good to revisit “old” exercises and work on them some more.

This is the shadow of a garbage can and some metal seats which I photographed in downtown Merced, CA.

Enjoy and have fun photographing!

Shadows 05

shadows-05.jpg

In this image the original subject is not visible anymore. The viewer wonders what he he/she sees. Shadows can have the aspect of being mysterious and therefore interesting. In this case the subject is an orange with two leaves still attached to it.

I hope you enjoyed this exercise and come up with your own images. It would be nice if you would shre them with me. my email is frgolz@yahoo.com
