Street Photography 10
11. November 2011 by Friedhelm.
I have seen many homeless people in my life and still they somehow touch me. I have a great family, nice home, all the stuff that these people don’t have and still they make me think. What is important in life and what not?
Have a great and peaceful Friday!

This image reveals on the the cultural differences between the US and Germany. In Germany people drink in public and nobody cares. In the US people try to hide their addiction. Either they drink out of a brown bag or behind closed doors. This image reminds me of my first visit to the US. I bought a bottle of whiskey and the clerk wanted to put it in a brown bag. I said “thank you” and walked out of the store without the bag holding the bottle in my arm. After a while I started to wonder because everybody turned around and looked at me. I checked my zipper and found everything was okay. When I told my family they were just laughing!
Enjoy and keep on photographing!

People walking by each other - an experience that we all endure in life. When I looked at this image I thought about my neighborhood. I live in my current home for the last 12 years and I still don’t know all of my neighbors. Street photography makes me think, challenge me and create in me emotions.

Street Photography 06
7. November 2011 by Friedhelm.
I decided to work another week on my street photography skills and I challenge you to do the same. I decided to go to a different place and since I was in Germany during the last two weeks I picked an inner city place and photographed people and their behavior.
The focal point in this image is the beggar. She was no face and she is kneeling. The people are walking bye in contrast to the kneeling beggar. The have no face eitherĀ and they walk around her not paying any attention.
I decided to crop this image. Does it convey the same message or does the dynamic change?
Enjoy and keep on photographing!

This gentleman is picking up a little girl. The man on the left is watching and so is Mom. I like the dynamic of this image, the relationships between the people and the little girl that is watched and hopefully well cared for.
Keep on photographing!

This gentleman was sitting relaxed on the concrete bench. I wonder, what was he thinking? You see the shopping bags. Maybe he wanted to surprise his wife?
Enjoy and keep on photographing!

Street Photography 01
31. October 2011 by Friedhelm.
This week I challenge you to find a busy place in your community, take a small camera if possible and watch and photograph people as they walk bye, sit, play or do any other activity. As always, enjoy this challenge!
I decided to take my small 50mm lens and I picked a busy place where people were doing all kinds of things. Nobody was bothering me except a little girl that asked me to take a picture of her and her grandmother, which I did!
