I found this sign at a local pumpkin patch. Enjoy and have a great week-end!

These signs are interesting. The top sign is in English the bottom one in Spanish. In addition, no Government Dollars funded this sign. I talked to the Gentleman who lived right behind the sign and he told me that Rockhill Lane was hard to find and the Government had no money to put up a sign so he did it himself. After he had done it the local authorities felt embarrassed and put up a second sign.

I photographed this rust spot on an old ship. I believe someone tried to paint over a rust spot and the paint did not stop the oxidation process.

I photographed this leaf with a wide open lens creating just a very narrow depth of field. Notice that the subject has no connection to the edge of the image.

I photographed this flower at a fountain in walnut Creek, CA. I used my 85mm prime lens at f1.8 to blur the background.

This is a very interesting exercise. Instead of filling as much as possible of the image frame with the subject, make the subject small and have lots of space around it. The matter of fact is, the subject, in this image the leaf, should not count for more 20% of the frame.

In order to blur the background as much as possible use your lens wide open. I shot this image with a prime 50mm lens at f2.8.

I photographed this image in the eastern Sierra Nevada at about 8000 foot elevation. You can see how dry the high dessert is.

“Dead center is dead!” this is one of the comments I have heard many times from “famous” photographers and I believed it for a while. Today, I don’t think so anymore. I created simple image, where the Aspen leaf is “dead” center and for me this image is very much “alive.”
