The dogwoods in Yosemite are just beginning to turn their colors.

I discovered this group of leaves in Sonora, CA. They were laying on the street. I liked the color combination of red, green and yellow.

I like the contrast in this image. The red – green color contrast is interesting and the clear subject and the blurred background supports the effect.

Fall Colors is not just color turning leaves. The entire landscape looks different during the Fall than during the Spring. I drove just a few miles outside Merced (my hometown) and got this areal shot. Four years of drought have an impact!

I believe these are the Fall colors of a California oak tree. I photographed this tree in Columbia State Historic Park. Enjoy and keep on photographing!

 

Does anybody know the name of this tree? I photographed it in Rahilly Park in Merced, CA my hometown. I used a 85mm lens at f2, which produced a very small depth of field.

This is another example where the leaves are just drying up before they can develop their pretty red colors. They drought is pretty hard on California’s beautiful trees!

I photographed these leaves in Columbia State Historic Park located in the foothills of central California. The late afternoon sun brought out the colors just beautifully. Enjoy and keep on photographing!

 

This year’s fall colors are very challenging in central California. Four years of drought had a tremendous impact on trees and plants. Many of them just dry up and don’t produce the wonderful colors that we are used to see in the western USA. On the other side, the East coast is suffering from too much rain. I wonder how Fall colors do develop there. No matter where you live, take your camera and go out and document the Fall of 2015! As always, enjoy your work and be the best photographer you can be!
