I photographed these dolls using a wide open lens. Dolls are great subjects to train for portrait photography and they are very patient with the photographer.

The heath is a man-made cultural landscape. Typical for them are heather, birch, pine and juniper.

The wolf, the heraldic animal of Wolfsburg. This life-size specimen normally stands in front of a well-known Wolfsburg optician’s shop. After work he guards the shop from the inside.

I grew up in a small town in Northern California. One feature was the railroad that hauled finished wood products from the local mill. After the mill closed the railroad survived for a while as a tourist attraction. When that ended so did a part of my past. While walking around the rail yard I took this which to me exemplified the fate of the railroad.
Ich bin in einer kleinen Stadt in Nordkalifornien aufgewachsen. Eine Besonderheit war die Eisenbahn, die fertige Holzprodukte aus der örtlichen Mühle holte. Nachdem die Mühle geschlossen war, überlebte die Eisenbahn eine Weile als Touristenattraktion. Als das endete, gehörte das auch zu meiner Vergangenheit. Als ich durch den Bahnhof lief, nahm ich dies, was mir das Schicksal der Eisenbahn veranschaulichte.
