Monochrome – Passion for Photos

Klare Linie

Ich finde, Bilder in Schwarz/Weiß unterstreichen in solchen Architekturaufnahmen noch mal besonders die kühle, funktionale Technik der Bauten. Als Kontrast dazu: der Baum im Hintergrund und der Stein im Vordergrund, der keck aus der Kiesfläche herausragt. Zu perfekt soll es nun auch nicht sein.

I find that pictures in black and white emphasize the cool, functional technology of the buildings in such architectural shots. As a contrast: the tree in the background and the stone in the foreground, which juts out boldly from the gravel surface. It shouldn’t be too perfect either.

Kunstwelt

Stahl, Beton, gerade Linien, klare Strukturen, alles sehr ordentlich und aufgeräumt. Und zwischendrin, ganz klein, der Mensch in seiner künstlichen Welt. Ganz so schlimm ist es zum Glück nicht. Aber es ist doch immer wieder interessant, wie man mit Perspektive und Farblook Stimmungen und Geschichten in seine Bilder bekommt.

Steel, concrete, straight lines, clear structures, everything very neat and tidy. And in between, very small, people in their artificial world. Fortunately, it’s not quite that bad. But it’s always interesting to see how you can use perspective and color to create moods and stories in your pictures.

An der Ostsee

Zu unserem heutigen Thema “Monochrom” habe ich mir drei Bilder von der Ostseeküste, genauer aus Greifswald und Sellin ausgesucht. Das erste Bild zeigt die Klosterruine Eldena in Greifswald, die schon dem großen deutschen Maler der Romantik, Caspar David Friedrich, als häufig gemaltes Motiv diente. Bild zwei zeigt die Zugbrücke in Wieck, einem Ortsteil von Greifswald und nahe bei Kloster Eldena. Bild drei zeigt die berühmte Seebrücke von Sellin, auf der Insel Rügen.

For today’s theme “Monochrome”, I have chosen three pictures from the Baltic Sea coast, more precisely from Greifswald and Sellin. The first picture shows the ruins of the Eldena monastery in Greifswald, which was frequently painted by the great German Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich. Picture two shows the drawbridge in Wieck, a district of Greifswald and close to Eldena Monastery. Picture three shows the famous pier at Sellin on the island of Rügen.

Spiegelung

In letzter Zeit habe ich den Reiz der Schwarz/Weiß-Fotografie wieder für mich entdeckt. Diese Bilder haben einfach eine ganz eigene Wirkung, wie ich finde.

I have recently rediscovered the appeal of black and white photography. I think these pictures simply have a very special effect.

Auf dem Abstellgleis

Was ist ein “Lost Place”? Für mich ein Platz, an dem Dinge darauf warten, vielleicht irgendwann wieder verwendet zu werden. Und während sie so warten, nagt der Zahn der Zeit an ihnen.

What is a “lost place”? For me, a place where things are waiting to be used again, perhaps at some point. And while they wait like that, the ravages of time gnaw away at them.
