When I see people living in the streets I always wonder about their story. what did happen in their lives that they ended up without a home?

Ever since i saw the images of Henri Cartier-Bresson I am fascinated with street photography. I love to see the people, love how they look and act and I am happy to catch moments of joy or even sadness. I challenge you to go out and photograph in public places. watch, observe and come home with some very interesting images.
I was observing the light and the columns when this boy with his scooter came along. I snapped him at the right moment getting also his shadow.

One way of leading the eye to a single flower is “selective sharpening.” In this image I surrounded one flower with a circle of blured flowers. For this purpose I picked an aperture setting of f5, which really creates a shallow depth of field with my 180 macro lens.

I like color contrast in my images. I purposely picked the orange poppy as part of the composition because it creates a nice contrast to the blue flowers. In addition I picked a f5.6 aperture setting which created a small depth of field in my 180mm macro lens. I needed the small depth of field because if the poppy would have been sharp the eyes would have focused on the poppy and not on the small blue flowers.

2016 is the year of the wildflowers in California. Just drive up into the foothills or even along the highways you wild find wildflowers in abundance. So, get your camera out, look for them, study them in different light situations and photograph them.
I photographed these lupins in the foothills around Pine Flat Lake using a 60mm prime lens at f4.

I created this image while the sun was rising. Take a close look and analyse the contrast in the low, mid and high tones. Depending on how you use contrast in different tonalities of the image you can create totally different feelings. Think about how much power you have with your images!
