The art of building wooden ships has all but disappeared. However, in some countries wooden ships are used as tourist attraction and sometimes even for transporting cargo (see post of 26.9.20222). In Oman, the town of Sur is famous for shipbuilding. The work is done by indian or pakistani craftsmen. A similar place, where big cargo ships like those which can be seen in the old port of Dubai are built, is in Mandvi, in India. I will show some pictures from there later
When I was in Idaho, my family and I went to a museum and looked at the oldest building in the entire state. I captured this image of some people sightseeing, and I love the view in the background!
In the old west, just like now, not everyone could read, but when they saw these hanging outside a shop they knew it was a blacksmith.
This is a combination of eight exposures. I turned the vase slightly at each exposure and combined the images in post production in layers. Each layer I assigned an special opacity. Enjoy!
Spoiler for next week’s topic: animals. I ultimately decided on another series, but still want to show my outtakes. Two of my all-time favorite photos.
I was in the Autostadt again a few days ago. Autumn is a time when it gets much quieter here. On the one hand. On the other hand, the reconstruction for the winter season starts now. Many busy hands are converting the lagoon landscape into a huge ice rink and winter landscape. A good opportunity to take a closer look at the technical side.
