How many times have I used toilet paper as a bookmark? By the way, this book is worth any penny. If you have not read it, go and do it.

I picked a bunch of rose petals and put them in a blue bowl. In between the rose petals I put pieces of toilet paper. I filled the bowl with water and used a spay bottle to create the water droplets. Now I was ready to photograph.

Enjoy and come up with some great (crazy) ideas.

I want to continue on the Toilet Paper Project for this week. Look at the image above. I photographed a row of rocks on the bike path behind my house. Now take a look at the second image.

Positioned a roll of toilet paper into the upper middle of the image. Watch how it changes the entire dynamic of the image. What can we learn from this? A small object can change the appearance of the overall image. Therefor it is of the utmost importance of every photographer to watch the details and control them if possible.

This image reminds me of my childhood. We camped somewhere and there was no toilet around so we had to mark a place that we used.

Toilet paper definitely does not belong into a dishwasher. that is exactly why I put it there to create this composition.

This week I ask you to take a roll of toilet paper with you wherever you go to photograph. After you have photographed your subject take another shot after you placed the toilet paper somewhere into the frame. Of course you can start right away with the toilet paper inside the composition. It really get’s great when you create photograph with toilet paper at locations where people don’t expect to find it.

Normally you don’t see tomatoes and toilet paper together. I picked a black background to enhance the contrast.

In this image I also wanted a shallow depth of field. Therefor I used an aperture setting of f2.8. Watch where your eyes go automatically and how you can create attention to your focal point.

In this image I used f22 to get as much depth of fiels as possible. In post production I used NIK Silver Efix pro to creates this look.

This is another example of photographing with a wide open lens. I manually focused on the lower left corner to get just part of the shoe string in focus.

These shoes were made for a shallow depth of field. Again I used my 85mm portrait lens at f 1.8. By the way the light in the late afternoon was so beautiful that I did not have to use neither a strobe light nor a reflector.
