Freight Train in Merced
I used a drone to capture this freight train going through Merced county. While viewing my images I discovered a container from Hamburg-Süd (see second image on the lower right below the Maersk container) The world is small and greetings to Peter in Hamburg who shared his wonderful images yesterday.
Oil on Water
At night I poured some water into a translucent bowl. I used a few books to raise the arrangement and added a few drops of oil into the water. The I picked some colorful backgrounds on my tablet which I arranged underneath the raised water bowl. Now I stirred the oil in the water and started photographing. Enjoy!
Tip of an Anvil
In preparation for our quarterly assignment David and I drove to the Railtown 1897 State Historic park in Jamestown , CA. Inside the shop I was able to capture this large anvil with my 50mm lens at f1.4. Enjoy!
Lights
I photographed with a Russian Helios 44-2 lens. The lens is reasonable sharp and most importantly produces a beautiful background blur. Enjoy this image which I photographed in downtown Merced.
Milky Way in September
David and I went out to Eastman Lake in central California. Our goal was to try some night photography knowing that there was a lot of light pollution in the area. We were surprised how low the water in the lake was. I was still able to get some decent images of the Milky Way. Modern cameras are just amazing!
Liquid Cloud
Having Fun!
Yesterday I bought some acrylic paint and decided to have some fun with it. I filled an aquarium with water and mounted two strobe lights, one from the left bottom side shooting up and one from the right top side shooting down. Then I started photographing while dropping paint into the water. Enjoy!
Shaped by the Elements
I photographed this tree at Capitol Reef National Park in Utah. The tree was shaped by the elements and depends totally on the elements. I converted the image to black and white to create more drama. In addition I used the natural and imaginary lines to emphasize the tree trunk. Enjoy!
This is the colored version of the image. Which image do you like better and why?
