The exercise for the week is “Tools.” I cannot even imagine living without tools. My camera is a tool. We eat with tools, we repair our cars with tools etc. Think about tools in your life and photograph them.
I photographed a bunch of screwdrivers. They are obviously used which makes them even more interesting.

I went through a bag of cloth pins and picked a few red and green ones and put them on a cloth line. I used a 50mm lens at f4 to create this image.

I was looking for flowers in my backyard for red – green images and I discovered my red and my green lawn mower. One is an electric and one a push mower. I put them together and tried to find a good composition. This image I liked.

Of course, in mother nature you will find a great number of images that will fit the criteria for this exercise. Just go out early in the morning or late at night to take advantage of the wonderful soft light. If you have to go during the peak of the day take a reflector or a t-shirt to soften the light. I sometimes also experiment with a flash.

We are going into our second week of “red – green,”
I saw a bunch of rolls of twine at David’s store and put a red and green one on a white counter. I just used window light to create this image.

I looked in our kitchen cupboard and found a red and a green tea cup. I thought if I create a little bit of shadow the image would be more interesting.

The exercise for the week is Red-Green contrast. Create images that only (mostly) consists of red and green colors. watch how the colors interact and enjoy your photographs!
I saw this garden rake laying on a small hedge. I used the grip to create a frame around the twig with the green leaves.
I am beginning to like this exercise. After photographing the first round on a reflective surface I wondered how the rusty nails would look on small rocks. I tried a few shots and then decided to use only one screw. While I was taking away the two screws some rust fell on the rocks helping me to create this composition.
