I just got back from Yosemite NP. The waterfalls in Yosemite are either at peak or near peak. This image is from one of the minor falls. I cranked up the ISO to 800, opened the lens to f4 and got an exposure time of 1/3200. Looking at the image give the viewer an idea how fast the water is coming down and how much power and speed there is involved.

I photographed the bottom of this fountain right around sunset. There is the water coming out of the fountain going straight up, the water falling down and the quiet water of the pond.

I stopped at a water fountain while I was driving towards the San Francisco bay area. I photographed the water against the blue sky using a 135mm prime lens wide open to freeze the action.

You have certainly noticed that when you use a wide angle lens to photograph the face of a human being that the nose is usually enlarged. Some people refer to this effect as the “dog nose” effect. I tried this effect at Fern Spring in Yosemite National Park. I put the tripod into the water and mounted the full frame censor camera right above the water line to get this shot.

This is the upper part of Nevada Fall at Yosemite National Park. It took a little bit of effort to create this image. First I shot several exposures ranging from 1/100 sec. – 1/1600 sec. which I combined in Photomatix pro to a single HDR image. Then I used Nik Color Efix pro and Nik Silver Efix pro to create the final image. My intension was to show the power of the fall.

I debated for a while if I should do this exercise a third time. I finally decided to go ahead since whenever you repeat an exercise you only can get better at what you do. You also will develop a great portfolio on the subject. So let us photograph “water for two more weeks and see what shows up.
Due to the recent hot weather the falls in Yosemite National Park are just gushing. This is an image of upper Cascade Falls photographed from Hwy 120. I used an exposure time of about 0.5 seconds to get this smooth silky looking water.

I photographed this gentleman yesterday during my lunch break while I was waiting for my wife. The weather is very nice and people are sitting more outside. This creates great opportunities for every photographer.
