Every summer for six weeks the town of Bayreuth is in festival mode. It was the home of Richard Wagner and already in 1876 he started performing his own operas in a purpose built opera house, which is only used in the time of the festival. It was Richard Wagners idea that the performances ought to be accessible for everybody, but notwithstanding the high prices the availability of tickets is low. In past years, the ordinary visitors had to wait for up to ten years to get a ticket. This has changed. The theater outside the theater is at least as interesting as inside.

Street Musicians

Rainy days
The second week of January brought an exceptional amount of rain to the Netherlands. Railways had to shut down and motorways were blocked, basements ended up filled with water. Saturday, January 14th did not see a dry minute. I tried to capture the atmosphere at one of the saturday markets. Lack of light and foggy lenses are a challenge.
