Go and photograph clouds for the next two weeks and create nine square images. Out of those nine files create an collage of clouds. This exercise will help you to consider your background and evaluate the “mood” of a landscape image. As always have fun with it.
I did this exercise in Alaska and California. In Alaska I found beautiful clouds almost every day. It California there are many days, especially in the summer, when there are no clouds in the sky.
