Photographers study light. They constantly evaluate the light and they use all kinds of light sources to create their image. I challenge you to photograph outside after sunset and before “total” darkness. use the rest of the daylight as your background light and use a flash to illuminate your foreground or subject. That can be very challenging and sometimes you have to try different camera settings. If the background is too dark you may want to increase the ISO setting or open the lens more. As always have some fun with this exercise!
I found a big pile of leaves on my street. I used a flash to illuminate the leaves. In the background you see the typical evening light. camera setting: 55mm lens at ISO200, f5.6, 1/60sec.
Enjoy and keep on photographing!
