The Dogwoods and waterfalls were very spectacular this year in Yosemite Valley. I chose to convert this one to black and white. Have a good Memorial Holiday weekend and stay safe.

Mt. Shasta consists of two actual peaks, a smaller one to the west called Shastina and the much larger one known as Mt. Shasta. In this image Mt. Shasta is covered by the clouds on the right, Shastina gets it’s chance to shine with a colorful sunset to the left.

I went to the Tulelake Wildlife Refuge a while back. Not much there, it was clearly the wrong time of the year. After driving around a while I came across these three Comorants. They were very obliging and actually swam towards me.

I went to Northern California the other day. On the way I stopped at the Sundial Bridge in Redding, CA. This is the bridge support, the guide wires hold up the center of the bridge. There is also a great botanical garden there. While some areas were roped off and I may have been a little early I had a great few hours there. If you’re in the area be sure and stop by.
Ich bin neulich nach Nordkalifornien gefahren. Auf dem Weg hielt ich an der Sundial Bridge in Redding, Kalifornien. Dies ist die Brückenhalterung, die Führungsdrähte halten die Mitte der Brücke. I recently joined the Sierra Foothill Conservancy, a group aims to conserve and educate about the Sierra Foothill region of Central California. They sponsor many hikes and programs throughout the area. Last Saturday I went on my first hike. While it wasn’t a photographers hike, we did stop several times and the hike was leisurely enough that you could take time to photograph within reason. Our guide was Lori, a botanist, and very knowledgeable and informative about the plants and area.
There are apparently many types of Lupine, I never thought much about it. This one is a Spider Lupine, defined by it’s very thin leaf structure, visible at the bottom of the photograph.
Ich bin kürzlich der Sierra Foothill Conservancy beigetreten, einer Gruppe, die sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, die Sierra Foothill-Region in Zentralkalifornien zu konservieren und zu erziehen. Sie sponsern viele Wanderungen und Programme in der gesamten Region. Letzten Samstag bin ich meine erste Wanderung gemacht. Obwohl es sich nicht um eine Fotografenwanderung handelte, haben wir mehrmals gestoppt und die Wanderung war so gemächlich, dass Sie sich die Zeit nehmen konnten, um in vernünftigem Rahmen zu fotografieren.
Es gibt anscheinend viele Arten von Lupinen, ich habe nie viel darüber nachgedacht. Dies ist eine Spinnenlupine, die durch ihre sehr dünne Blattstruktur definiert wird und am unteren Rand des Fotos sichtbar ist.
Last week I posted a colorful flower for our spring flower week. This week I’m posting a very bright yellow flower but I turned it into Black and White. Since last week was spring flower week I thought color was more appropriate.
Letzte Woche habe ich eine bunte Blume für unsere Frühlingsblumenwoche gepostet. Diese Woche poste ich eine sehr helle gelbe Blume, aber ich habe sie in Schwarz und Weiß verwandelt. Da letzte Woche Frühlingsblumenwoche war, hielt ich die Farbe für angemessener.
This flower has a lot of meaning for me, more than just a pretty flower. I got rid of my front lawn and put in a low maintenance yard two years ago. Last year, wanting to spruce it up a bit I added a number of planters, forgetting about our summer heat which ‘cooked’ and killed many of the potted plants.
This one is a survivor. There wasn’t much left but I dug a hole in the ground and planted it expecting to have to replace it this year. Low and behold it seems to be thriving and hopefully will be okay in the ground instead of a pot. If you know the name let me know. I lost the little tag.
Diese Blume hat für mich viel Bedeutung, mehr als nur eine hübsche Blume. Ich habe meinen Rasen vor zwei Jahren losgelassen und in einen wartungsarmen Hof gestellt. Im letzten Jahr, als ich es etwas verfeinern wollte, fügte ich einige Pflanzgefäße hinzu und vergaß unsere Sommerhitze, die viele der Topfpflanzen “kochte” und tötete.
Dieser ist ein Überlebender. Es war nicht mehr viel übrig, aber ich grub ein Loch in den Boden und pflanzte es in der Erwartung, es in diesem Jahr ersetzen zu müssen. Tief und siehe, es scheint zu gedeihen und wird hoffentlich in der Erde statt in einem Topf in Ordnung sein. Wenn Sie den Namen kennen, lassen Sie es mich wissen. Ich habe den kleinen Tag verloren.
