One of the largest and loveliest of the cactus blooms, Phoenix, Arizona
After India and Oman, have a look at West Africa. The Niger river is the Mississippi of this part of the world. The town of Mopti houses the river’s most important port. From here boats leave to the villages of the inland delta, a huge swamp, the major agricultural production area of the Sahel. A shipbuilding yard in Mopti produces the wooden boats.
In the South-Eastern part of California, close to the border to Mexico and also close to the State Line to Arizona is a huge sand dune area, the Algodones Dunes.
I went to a Volkswagen car show the other day. I loved seeing all the vintage VWs and I’d love to get an older Beetle one of these days. Currently, I have a 2018 VW beetle and I love it! The unique design of the beetle has always been something that I’ve been drawn to. Hope you enjoy!
Long before Facebook, TV and other modern waste information hammering systems, even before neon lights, advertisement was typically done by artful raw iron sculptures that withstood decades or centuries without updating.
Nature, Dragons, Biers in a shapes, or Profession Indicators were often depicted in artful raw ion displays beautifully painted.
I don’t know how many layers of paint there are on the first photo but this has been a place for ‘communication’ for a very long time. The second photo is from Fresno and is literally ‘Street Art’, the third is also from Fresno’s Tower District and I admire how long it must have taken to do this and the inspiration involved.
I discovered these beautiful pieces of art in old town San Diego. Enjoy!
Topic of the week: “Street art” (Shoreditch/London) – in search of the next dimension.
The artist Birgit Hölmer calls her abstract adhesive pictures “Cuts”. She has been decorating the windows of vacant stores with her works for years. I found it interesting that the pictures seem to float in space, depending on the lighting and angle of view.
