Amsterdam

I studied some old black and white movies and try to transfer the dramatic imaging to modern, color scenes. Good inspiration can be found in “the third man” by Carol Reed, or the movies of Willy Zielke (“arbeitslos, Schicksal von Millionen”, “Stahltier”). Here are some November scenes in the streets of Amsterdam.

I hope the darkness of the faces adds some drama to the scenes….

Zielkes movies were forbidden by the censorship of the Third Reich. This probably was on instigation of Reni Riefenstahl, who copied his way of filming. He ended up in an insane asylum. After the war he was reexamined and found perfectly sane.

Vintage

The challenge for this month was monochrome and I tried to do a colored monochrome but found I liked the black and white better for this particular shot. This is, I believe, a very neglected 1953 Oldsmobile that was one of many that were scattered on this gentleman’s property. He was obviously a vintage car enthusiast of that particular make and model. Enjoy your weekend and stay healthy.
