I took “street photography” quite literally, first in the Altmark/Saxony-Anhalt and then in Braunschweig.

Komfortzone ade!
For this backlit shot, I was a little more daring with the processing. Goodbye comfort zone!
This gigantic bagger reminds me of a Mississippi shuffle boat, making its way through the waves. Here the shuffle wheel is at the bow of the Earth Eater, which is digging for “brown coal”. At the horizon the new time of energy generation is already appearing in the shape of wind turbines. Germany has decided to step out of coal mining within our country by 2030.
On Sunday I went hiking with a small group in the Eyßelforst/Gifhorn and was amazed at how nature reveals itself in the morning hours after a frosty night.
It can be very stormy at the California coast. I created this image at Piano Beach. Enjoy!
The red rocks of Sedona, Arizona are beautiful in every season.
People are always surprised at the diversity of landscape and seasons in Arizona. This image from Bartlett Lake shows a winter desert scene less than 50 miles from downtown Phoenix.
Over the past few weeks, I have been out and about in the Wolfsburg area. Prolonged rain initially caused streams and rivers to burst their banks and flood fields. Then the frost came and froze nature.
Winter doesn’t always have to be dreary and gray, as you can see. Even in the afternoon there are great sky colors to see, which in combination with the appropriate architecture lead to interesting pictures.
After Christmas I thought I would be able to spend some quiet time at Sunset Beach at the Pacific Ocean. Instead we were warned of the high waves at the beach. Of course I had to go and photograph!
Enjoy the image and have a Happy New Year.
PS: I also would like to take the opportunity to thank Peter Hilden for his contribution to our photoblog. Peter shared many outstanding images from his vast portfolio as a travel and street photographer. We all wish him all the best and many more great images!
