Harlequin Lupine

Lupine’s come in  many varieties that are different shades of lavender and purple and sometimes pink but he Harlequin has the most unique coloring with its  mix of yellow,  pink, lavender and purple. It is not as common or abundant as the ones usually seen growing in the fields of the mid to higher elevations of the Sierra-Nevada so it is always a lovely surprise.

Cooler times

With the temperatures around here at or over 100° for the last few weeks and no real end in sight, I thought I’d post something from a cooler time. You can’t get any better than winter in Yosemite.

Da die Temperaturen in den letzten Wochen hier bei oder über 100 ° lagen und kein echtes Ende in Sicht war, dachte ich, ich würde etwas aus einer kühleren Zeit veröffentlichen. Sie können nicht besser als der Winter in Yosemite werden.

Kontrastprogramm

Anke erwähnte gestern bereits den Sandstrand in der Autostadt. Hier ist er nun auch im Bild. Bei den zur Zeit herrschenden Temperaturen bietet das kleine Strandbad herrliche Erfrischung im ehemaligen Hafenbecken.

Anke already mentioned the sandy beach in the Autostadt yesterday. Here he is now also in the picture. With the current temperatures, the small lido offers wonderful refreshment in the former harbour basin.

Sommertreiben in der Autostadt

Auch in diesem Sommer ist in der Autostadt Wolfsburg wieder viel los. Vom Hafenbecken aus zeigt das Sommerfestival was es zu bieten hat: Wasser, Sandstrand, Boote und Zirkus – Ferienspaß für jeden Geschmack.

This summer, too, there is a lot going on in the Autostadt Wolfsburg. From the harbour basin the summer festival shows what it has to offer: Water, sandy beach, boats and circus – holiday fun for everyone.

Tiny Flower

Another flower from our trip to Kings Canyon-Sequoia National Park.

While the last flower was fairly abundant (see last Saturdays post) I saw very few of this one. It was very tiny, this cluster was about the size of a quarter and very low to the ground. Once again I had trouble identifying it. Maybe the altitude plays a roll in it being so small. My wildflower books seem to favor longer stemmed flowers.

Eine weitere Blume von unserer Reise zum Kings Canyon-Sequoia National Park.
Während die letzte Blume ziemlich üppig war (siehe letzte samstags Post), sah ich nur sehr wenige von diesem. Es war sehr winzig, dieser Cluster war ungefähr so groß wie ein Viertel und sehr niedrig zu Boden. Wieder einmal hatte ich Schwierigkeiten, es zu identifizieren. Vielleicht spielt die Höhe eine Rolle, da Sie so klein ist. Meine Wildblumen Bücher scheinen länger gezogene Blumen zu bevorzugen.
