High Sierra Nature

Hello again. I am glad to be back. This time of year I spend as much time as possible in the high country of the sierras. I love the wildflowers at those elevations. This picture was taken at approximately 7,000 ft. These plants have to be hardy to survive, as do the insects that pollinate them and keep them reproducing. It amazes me how they survive the harsh conditions at these elevations This is a Mountain Aster with a Checkerspot butterfly busily doing his job.

Shasta Daisies

On a recent trip to Northern California I look a little time away from the tasks at hand and drove south of McCloud , CA and came across this field of wild Shasta Daisies. It there weren’t so many trees in the way I probably could have had Mt. Shasta itself in the background.

Auf einer kürzlichen Reise nach Nordkalifornien habe ich mich ein wenig von den anstehenden Aufgaben entfernt und bin südlich von McCloud, CA, gefahren und bin auf dieses Feld wilder Shasta-Gänseblümchen gestoßen. Es gab nicht so viele Bäume, wie ich sie wahrscheinlich hätte haben können. Shasta selbst im Hintergrund.

Bördeboot

Das ist ein sogenanntes “Bördeboot”. Üblicherweise sind diese Boote auf der Insel Helgoland, also mitten in der Nordsee, im Einsatz. Dort bringen sie die Inselbesucher von den auf Reede liegenden Schiffen auf die Insel. Dieses Boot hat, im Rahmen einer Protestfahrt nach Berlin, im Wolfsburger Motorsporthafen einen Zwischenstopp eingelegt.
t’s a so-called “boating boat.” Usually these boats are used on the island Helgoland, in the middle of the North Sea. There they bring the island visitors from the ships lying on the roads to the island. This boat made a stopover at the Wolfsburg Motorsport Harbour during a protest trip to Berlin.

Merced River and Snow

I took this a couple of years ago in Yosemite National Park. Since the theme is reflections you can probably see that this is a reflection of snow covered trees in the Merced River. I’ve had people who had to ask what this was.
