How the hell do you persuade oysters to form pearls? – The answer is: with surgical precision, foreign objects (small plastic pearls) are placed into the living oyster, which are then covered with nacre by the oyster.
Mit 130 cm Länge von der Nasen- bis zur Schwanzspitze ist der Fischotter gar nicht mal so klein. Trotzdem wird man den flinken und geschickten Jäger in freier Wildbahn kaum zu Gesicht bekommen. Zum Glück gibt es bei uns in der Nähe das Otterzentrum Hankensbüttel. Dort kann man in naturnahen Schaugehegen Fischotter und andere Mardertiere beobachten. Das macht es etwas einfacher die flinken Tiere zu fotografieren. Aber nur ein bisschen.

Fortunately, there is the Otter Center Hankensbüttel near us. There you can observe otters and other marten animals in natural enclosures. This makes it a bit easier to photograph the nimble animals. But only a little bit.
In der Hoffnung auf eine Extraportion saß diese Möwe direkt vor der Fischhalle in Heiligenhafen. Die Kormorane an der Steilküste von Fehmarn hatten ihre Mahlzeit schon hinter sich und entspannten in der Sonne.
Hoping for an extra portion, this seagull sat right in front of the fish hall in Heiligenhafen. The cormorants on the cliffs of Fehmarn had already had their meal and were relaxing in the sun.
In some national parks in Africa the visitor still gets the impression how the world must have looked like before the arrival of homo sapiens. The number of animals is incredible. One such an example is Kobe national park in Botswana.
I recently got a wide angle lens and took a few photos of my pets with it. I got some pretty funny photos of them and I like how it looks like they’re sniffing at the camera. Enjoy!
