The photographer and the Staircase. This gentleman spent a good amount of time with an old “film” camera to take photos of the staircase. He later told me about the pleasure he has with maximal 3 photos of one subject.

Don’t huff and puff if you want to keep the ghost town Bodie alive!

Osprey Nest

This was taken at quite a distance with a 400mm lens and then cropped. The Rangers at Mono Lake had cordoned off the area for this and another Osprey nest. I was quite happy to see them even at the great distance.

Dies wurde aus ziemlich großer Entfernung mit einem 400-mm-Objektiv aufgenommen und dann zugeschnitten. Die Ranger am Mono Lake hatten das Gebiet für dieses und ein weiteres Fischadlernest abgesperrt. Ich war sehr froh, sie auch aus großer Entfernung zu sehen.

Angestaubt

Wenn wir so durch die Städte bummeln, halte ich auch immer Ausschau nach interessanten Schaufensterauslagen, bzw. Dekorationen. Diese hübsche Tasse, eine sogenannte Sammeltasse, habe ich in einem Antiquitätenladen in Wolfenbüttel entdeckt. Der Text “Ein Kind, das so brav ist, so artig wie Du, bekommt diese Tasse und ein Goldstück dazu” wirkt heute doch sehr angestaubt, gibt aber auch einen Einblick in die damaligen Wertevorstellungen.

When we so stroll through the cities, I also always look out for interesting window displays, or decorations. This pretty cup, a so-called collector’s cup, I discovered in an antique store in Wolfenbüttel. The text “A child who is as good, as well-behaved as you, gets this cup and a gold piece in addition” seems very dusty today, but also gives an insight into the values of the time.
