In normal lighting, you would probably only notice the elevator and the revolving door in passing. Just technology, functional, made of glass and cool steel. And then the evening sun shines on it at the right angle for a few minutes and you suddenly see a completely different picture.

Old Barn in Dos Palos, San Joaquin Valley

The San Joaquin Valley, you can pass through in many ways, just staying on crowded freeways, or taking the little back country roads. One of those many back country roads is Highway 33, kinda passing diagonally – from northeast to southwest. Collapsing buildings and failing farm structures are plentiful, although one after the other is eventually pushed over, when not by bulldozers, then by wind and weather.

This old barn, I have seen many times, last a couple of years ago, with the roof still intakt, but turned green with moss growing on it during the wet winter season. Finally, I came back to photograph it.

Altmark

This is Kunrau Castle in the Altmark region. Although, strictly speaking, it is not a castle at all, but a prestigious manor house built around 1860 by the son of a wealthy grain merchant from Braunschweig. The adjoining park in the style of an English landscape garden inspired me to give the picture a look in the style of English landscape painting.
