Altes Gemäuer

Das ist die Burg Brome aus dem Jahr 1200, oder genauer, das was die Jahrhunderte davon übrig gelassen haben. Die ursprüngliche Burg umschloss den Innenhof. Dort wo heute der Weg im Vordergrund ist, war ein Torhaus mit einer Zugbrücke. Die ganze Burg war von einem Wassergraben umgeben. Heute ist dort ein Handwerksmuseum untergebracht. Das besondere Hightlight ist das zweimal im Jahr stattfindende “Lebendige Museum”. Dann kann man mit erfahrenen Handwerkern mal selber ausprobieren, wie in den alten Werkstätten gearbeitet wurde.
This is the Brome Castle from 1200, or more precisely, what the centuries have left of it. The original castle enclosed the inner courtyard. Where today the path is in the foreground, there was a gatehouse with a drawbridge. The whole castle was surrounded by a moat. Today it houses a handicraft museum. The special highlight is the “Living Museum” which takes place twice a year. Then you can try out with experienced craftsmen how work was done in the old workshops.

Süßes Haus

In einem Bauernhausmuseum in Tirol/Österreich habe ich dieses Häuschen entdeckt. Es wird von unzähligen Bewohnern bevölkert. Es summt und brummt, denn es ist ein Bienenhaus. Hinter jedem Fenster verbirgt sich ein Bienenkorb.
I discovered this little house in a farmhouse museum in Tyrol/Austria. It is populated by countless inhabitants. It hums and hums, because behind every window is a beehive.

Bee Heaven

A favorite place to photograph in Arizona is the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, especially in the spring, which seems a long time ago now. The bees were busy all over the gardens that include every type of cactus you can imagine, as well as many other plants well-suited to this desert environment. This cactus bee was so involved in pollinating this prickly pear cactus that he let me get up close and personal and even posed.

Fall Dogwood

I have made a few trips to the park this past month trying to capture that awesome fall dogwood color but success has been hit and miss. The dogwoods have been somewhat sporadic with their displays and a little stingy with their color. The usual deep pinks and reds seem to be less vivid. And even now one can still capture them in their various stages of color. I am sure that all the odd weather and smoke have impacted a lot of the fall colors in the sierras. North Lake

I recently went to the East side of the Sierra’s in search of Aspens turning to their fall colors. The air, because of forest fires, went from good to bad depending on where and how high you were up. Essentially the colors were beautiful if you were fairly close and muted at a distance. This is looking west at North Lake on Bishop Creek. It gives you a pretty good idea of what the air quality was.

Ich war kürzlich auf der Ostseite der Sierra auf der Suche nach Espen, die sich ihren Herbstfarben zuwandten. Die Luft ging aufgrund von Waldbränden von gut nach schlecht, je nachdem, wo und wie hoch Sie waren. Im Wesentlichen waren die Farben schön, wenn Sie ziemlich nah und in einiger Entfernung gedämpft waren. Dies ist ein Blick nach Westen auf den North Lake am Bishop Creek. Es gibt Ihnen eine ziemlich gute Vorstellung davon, wie die Luftqualität war.

Peace Lily (Friedenslilie)

We just had this Peace Lily blooming. So, I tried something new. I placed it in front of an old computer screen, which was turned off and unreflective black. Then, I used natural light as well as colored light to take pictures. Enjoy!

Unsere Friedenslilie hat gerade geblüht. Mal was neues probierend, habe ich die Lilie vor einem alten Computer Monitor platziert, der nicht reflektierend and schwarz war. Dann, mit natürlichem aber auch farbigem Licht habe ich die Lilie photographiert.
