Vulture

Seeing a vulture doesn’t happen often in Europe. Therefore I have to confess that the picture was taken at the flight demonstration at the animal park of the Kasselburg in the Eiffel in Germany. The flight show has the added advantage that the birds are close and it is easier to guess where they are going. Therefore it was possible to take a picture of this griffon vulture with a wing span of 2.50 m with an APS-C camera and just a 16-80 lens.

Milky Way

An area of photography that I enjoy but only dabble in is astro-photography simply because of the cost of the equipment needed and the knowledge and experience needed to do it justice. But when done correctly with the proper equipment the results can be “otherworldly” and extraordinarily beautiful. I’m working on the experience part but have a long way to go. The equipment? I’ll have to learn to improvise with what I have because that stuff is really expensive! Enjoy your day and stay healthy.

Reflections – Merced River – near Snelling

Last week, in the middle of October, I drove by the Merced River after passing through Snelling. Yellow flowers are at full bloom along the river banks and still little is to see of Autumn. The river surface looked calm, reflecting clouds and vegetation alike.

Table Lamp

While visiting the Northern Nevada Railroad Museum in Nevada I stopped at the White Pine County Museum. It’s full of interesting exhibits, unfortunately for a photographer many are labeled. In one of the out-buildings I found this table lamp and liked the way the natural light hit it.

Als ich das Northern Nevada Railroad Museum in Nevada besuchte, hielt ich am White Pine County Museum. Es ist voll von interessanten Exponaten, leider sind viele für einen Fotografen beschriftet. In einem der Nebengebäude fand ich diese Tischlampe und mochte die Art und Weise, wie das natürliche Licht darauf einfiel.

Übergang

Die meisten Felder sind abgeerntet und das Laub der Bäume verfärbt sich bunt. Der Herbst hält allmählich Einzug. Das Bild entstand von der Asse herab, einem Höhenzug südöstlich von Wolfenbüttel. Und der kleine historische Zug bildet noch mal den Abschluss zu unserem Thema “Eisenbahn” der letzten Woche.

Most fields have been harvested and the leaves on the trees are turning colorful. Autumn is gradually making its appearance. The picture was taken from the Asse, a mountain range southeast of Wolfenbüttel. And the small historical train forms again the conclusion to our topic “railroad” of the last week.
